It's an anime I would recommend anyone to check, no matter what age or even genres, they're usually into. This mix of godlike comedy, with a relaxing and nostaltic portrayal of everyday life, has semented this as one of my all time favorite shows. The show uses this to its advantage, as it builds up anticipation for the jokes punchline, rewarding the viewer for remembering early parts of the episode, as we speculate and look forward to seeing HOW the punchline we've expected will be executed (most of the time, close to perfection, similar to what you'd expect from Bugs Bunny or other classic cartoons). The show honestly got my favorite comedy period, as you often know what to expect, not just from the characters, but also from the show itself. While the cast isn't filled with the "best individual characters", it's still up there as one of my favorite ensemble casts of all time, where each cast member got their assigned role in the episodic narratives, with their own charm and running gags. The show juggles relaxing, comedic and melancholic moments with ease, while throwing in some real tear-jerkers from time-to-time, which gives you a complete package of the characters lives, as we see Maruko herself, go through all sort of emotions and experiences. The show is a masterpiece when it comes to minimalistic presentation, with its classic soundtrack, warm and fun colors, and snarky The simple visuals is a perfect fit for the simple life the show is portraying, with some of my favorite facial expressions in all of anime.
